Olhão offers a very pleasant paved promenade with gardens to escape the heat of the sun. If you are driving to Olhão there is plenty of parking along the water front.
There are two market buildings which offer fresh fish and sea food straight from the port. The markets are surrounded by cafes and a great place to sit and enjoy the view of the boats. You can also enjoy the beach ilhas of Armona and Culatra which is just a short distance off shore. Here you can enjoy a lovely afternoon walking along the water front and through the gardens.
Olhão is definitely a city on the up as far as tourism is concerned. With its Ria Shopping centre of shops, restaurants and cinema is on the EN125 towards the town centre. Several companies offer a variety of boat trips, fishing trips and general coastal cruises as well as the regular ferries. Being close to Faro means short transfer times so you are on holiday before you know it.
Faro offers much more than just a landing point in Portugal. The area is also full of shops, restaurants, cafes, theatres, and galleries. Faro also offers great beaches and the Ria Formosa nature reserve.
From Faro marina you will find Porta Nova pier where you can also catch a ferry to the ilha beaches. The boat ride through the Ria Formosa is a 30 minute trip each way.
On the streets you will find many cafes and restaurants around the old town. As you move further away from the water front, you will also find modern office and apartment blocks.
