    As far as healthcare is concerned, Italy ranks among the World Health Organization’s top 10 countries.

    If relocating, Italy’s national health plan (Servizio Sanitario Nazionale), covers hospital and medical benefits. It is designed to provide for all Italian citizens and legal residents.

    Some public hospitals are overcrowded and underfunded. However, this is not always the case everywhere. Mid-size cities have good facilities and shorter lines. Each town has a doctor and a guardia medica on duty during weekends and holidays for emergencies.

    Private healthcare is also an option and much cheaper than countries like the USA.
