      Hi All,

My wife is American, I’m a UK citizen. We’ve been married for over 6 years. Currently we live in the UK and considering moving to the US.

How difficult will it be for me to obtain a mortgage in the USA on just my wife’s credit score? And can my UK credit history in the UK be included / considered by mortgage companies?

      Many thanks!

        Hi Gino,

The major bureau Experian, Equifax and TransUnion operate in both the UK and the USA. However, your credit history DOES NOT translate in either direction.

I believe you’ll need a credit score of at least 620 to get a mortgage.

Both permanent and non-permanent residents can get a mortgage in the USA.

        Best of luck
