The village is called Bourg Archambault and has a spectacular chateau with moat and portcullis together with a lovely lake which holds fishing competitions; but is in itself just lovely to walk around.

The closest villages with amenities are Lathus Saint Remy (9 minutes’ drive) and La Trimouille, one of the last villages before you get to the Brenne National Park (12 minutes’ drive), Montmorillon is only 14 minutes away.
Montmorillon is known for its Cite de l’Écrit and is a popular tourist town, making this house in the village of Bourg-Archambault an ideal base for its attractions. Lathus Saint Remy has many attractions also including its Centre de Plein Air, situated on the banks of the Gartempe river; which hosts many an international canoe and kayaking event; it also has a very good Equestrian Centre. La Trimouille is on the edge of the Vienne department and is a natural gateway to the Brenne National Park and its breath-taking lakes and wildlife.
Getting to the area is easy with flights from many UK airports into Limoges and Poitiers; both a
1-hour drive from the village and trains in Montmorillon with direct links to services to Poitiers train station where you have TGV connections to Paris, Bordeaux, London & Brussels.
The couple who own the house use it has a holiday home and have done some works over the last 12 years or so including Velux windows, bathrooms etc., but you do have room to still put your own mark on the property.
